Dusk established its dominion. It was neither the brilliance of day nor the abyss of night, but that moment when light becomes memory and shadow, a promise.
Upon the giant chessboard, two wills clashed, masters of a geometric kingdom. Their subjects advanced, each locked within its own law: the obstinate rook, who knows only the straight line; the slanted bishop, condemned to a single color; the capricious knight, able only to leap sideways; and the king, the most powerful, (yet very) timid, reduced to advancing but one step at a time.
Around them, silhouettes watched the game. Their faces, sculpted in chiaroscuro, silent maps where strategy, waiting, and inescapable fate could be read. Each whispered commentary, as if the match were a sacred ritual, not a simple game.
Thus, at this meeting point, destinies played out. The pieces advanced, retreated, captured or were captured, knowing nothing of the will that carried them. They were the subjects of the player, but was he himself, in turn, not the plaything of some more distant hand? And that hand, of what other, still more distant hand?
